Small on purpose.

Pick problems you understand, then stay.

Most software is built by people who will not be there in three years, for markets they have never worked in, to a plan set by someone counting quarters. It is why so much of it is nearly good, and why the last ten percent, the part that decides whether anyone trusts it, so rarely arrives.

We would rather pick problems we actually understand, build the thing properly, and stay long enough to finish it. Both companies here exist because we went looking for a tool, found something careless, and decided we would rather make it ourselves.

A team that can hold a product in its head.

We are deliberately small: small enough that everyone can hold an entire product in their head, decide quickly, and be accountable for the result. There is no layer whose job is to relay decisions between the people who make them and the people who carry them out.

Each company is wholly owned and funded out of our own balance sheet. We are not assembling a portfolio to be flipped, and we are not running someone else’s playbook. What we are doing is closer to a workshop than a fund.

Two now, a third next year.

If you invest, write, or want to work on any of it, we read everything that comes through the form.
